Chinese air fields for new US B-29 built by chinese laborers to go bomb Japan steel mills. Did not work for fuel efficiency so move the bomber's base to Guam. Under LeMay's command, March of 1945, in one single night, 100.000 civilians died in the Tokyo bombing, men women and children. "I was part of a mechanism that in a sense recommended it (...) I analyzed bombing missions and how to make them more efficient (in a sense of weakening the enemy)".
Most of Japan was already obliterated before the dropping of the atomic bomb (by LeMay's command). "Killing 50 to 90% of Japanese people killed in 67 cities, and then bombing them with 2 nuclear bombs, is not proportional, in the mind of some people, to the objective we were trying to achieve". Don't blame Truema for dropping it, "US-Japan war was one of the most violent in human history". "LeMay has said 'if we had lost the war, we would all be prosecuted as war criminals' and I think he's right".

October 62 Cuba missile crisis. "Luck saved us from nuclear annihilation".
Vietnam.
Pulling out troop with JFK until South-Vietnam coup in 63 which overthrown and assassinated president Diem and his brother in 63 (with very probable US involvement).
JFK assassination.
August 2nd 1964, the destroyer Madddox reported that they were attacked by a north Viernamese patrol boat - an act of aggression in international water. "We recovered pieces of north vietnamese shells from the deck of the Maddox, so there was no question on my mind that it did happen. But in any event, we didn't respond ("Kennedy got shitbagged for not protecting the national interest)". August 4th, the Maddox reported being attack but the source of the attack was harder to determine. Big confusion, spent 10 hours that day figuring out what was happening, before concluding that there had been an attack. LBJ authorized bombing of NV targets as a result. It was later established that there was no attack at all that day; no enemy vessels at all in the area.
Rolling Thunder: In 1 year of bombing in Vietnam, 2-3 times more bombs than for all of Europe during WW2. 1965: on envoie les marines.
During the Cuba crisis we did empathize with the soviets toward the end and that's what saved us, but that never happened with the Vietnamese because they mindsets were completely alien to us.
3.400.000 Vietnamese killed. 58.000 Americans.
None of our allied (Japan England Germany France) supported our decision. When countries with similar values don't support your decision you should re-examine your causes. Then Vietnam prime minister: "we're fighting for our independence, you were fighting to enslave us. We we determined and no amount of US pressure would have change that".

Fast, Cheap and Out of Control, 1997

C'est quoi le point commun entre un vieux jardinier qui n'utilise jamais de machine pour bosser, un fan de taupes-rats enthousiaste, un dresseur de lions de cirque et un expert en robotique?
Errol Morris (The Thin Blue Line) est un bon allumé qui fait en sorte que ses docu marques les esprits. Le montage est très trippé et contient beaucoup d'image d'archive et de pont parallèle.

Four Lions, 2010

Quatre musulmans installés en Angleterre rêvent de devenir des martyrs du Jihad en se kamikazant sur une cible importante de l'occident. Le probleme c'est que 3 sur les 4 sont complètement abrutis, a peine capable de suivre une conversation. Ils veulent partir au Pakistan pour se faire entraîner par Al Qaeda mais sont tellement bras casses qu'ils se renvoyer en Angleterre sans ménagement. Laisses a eux même, ils se mettent a réfléchir a fabriquer leur propre bombes et réaliser leur propre attentat. Évidement, la catastrophe n'est jamais tres loin...
Une grosse farce, noire et bien foutue. On se marre bien tout du long, les acteurs assurent et le script est truffés de commentaires bien observés sur 'la menace terroriste'. Ca fait du bien de voir enfin le sujet de façon décomplexé, même si bien évidement ça a pas du tout été du goût de tout le monde de faire une comédie sur un sujet aussi 'grave'.
Le film s'est réalisé suite aux recherches de Chris Morris, qui a passer des mois avec Scotland Yard a écouter des suspects terroristes placés sur écoutes. Ces écoutes l'ont mise sur le cul: les terribles terroristes passent leur temps a parler du Seigneur des Anneaux et de Lady Gaga au téléphone, se traitent entre eux de 'hobbit poilus' etc etc... Franchement, ca dépasse la fiction. Bref ils sont loin de briller par leur intellect et ca lui a donner l'idee de faire ce film qui montre que ces mecs sont tout compte fait des beaufs comme tout le monde.

The Thin Blue Line, 1988

Un putain de docu de 88 tellement bien réalisé que c'est comme si il datait de l'année dernière. J'devrais vraiment pas trop en dire pour dégouter personne, le mieux c'est de le mater, même si ça a l'air complexe au début, en fait après ça se regarde tout seul.
Le docu démontre point par point comment (et pourquoi) un état sadique et corrompu du Texas envoit sans complexe un innocent sur la chaise apres qu'un cop se soit fait buter de sang froid. L'erreur judiciaire est démontrée dans toute sa splendeur, de A a Z. Le taff de Errol Morris est monstrueux, interview de moultes tolars et membres du système judiciaire aux 4 coins des US pour aller chercher ce qu'il s'est vraiment passe le soir de l'assassinat du flic.
Fais toi prendre en stop par le mauvais larron a Dallas et tu peux finir en Death Row sans passe par la case départ.
Incroyable, superbement réalisé, et vrai.
