Bass – Bass is the most recent instrument, only 400years old. Evolution of way to play the bass to accompy a rythm. Funk brother bassist and other started to give it a more active and dynamic role. Only around the 60s were electric bass able to cut through the mix. Same for keyboards and the moog in 68, first keyboard able to go as low as the organ. Then can the mini-moog in 71 with extra low bass frequency ossillator to produce bass of great depth and definition. This revolutionized the way bass was incorporated into modern music. Bass became sexy and became to dominate modern music. Now bass has even its own genera. For half a millennium instrument makers have been trying to construct instruments of all shapes and sizes capable of thudding, sonorous low notes. Only with the arrival of the synthesizer did they succeed in producing a rival to the mighty organ. With disco, dance, and drum ‘n’ bass, the bass has arrived centre stage.
